. May 5th is Cinco de Mayo! The Mariachie De Rotarios are playing and singing the Merrillville Rotary Song--(Mike Brown, Ralph Neff, Brian Popp, Bob Andree, and Joe Harwoski). Please join the fun on Wednesday! Prize contributions by Rotarians are greatly appreciated! Prizes will be awarded. Tarjetas de Loteria $5 US. Gracias!

  April 30th, 2010 ends Ralph's Challenge of him matching contributions made from any Rotarian, dollar for dollar up to $1,000.00 ($500.00 each for American Red Cross and Goodwill Industries). Please help Ralph spend his money on a excellent cause!

4/7/2010 Gary M. Mitchell, President and CEO of Opportunity Enterprise for the last 25 years spoke to our group. Opportunity Enterprise has been in business for 43 years and started in a basement of a church. They went from 40 employees to 200 employees. Their future project is purchasing 15 acres by Lake Eliza in Porter.  

4/14/2010 Administrative Professionals Day was at Gambas via the Crossroads Chamber and a Joint Rotary Meeting was held in Crown Point for the South Korea Group Study Exchange Program.

4/21/2010 Ron Donahue from Prompt Ambulance and Southlake Limousine Service, Inc.discussed their state of the art Dispatch Communication Center. They have grown in the last 5 to 10 years. They have 500 employees, 148 vehicles, and 2 fully staffed command centers that service mainly Highland, Griffith, Munster, Dyer, and some of Merrillville, Hobart, and Valparaiso areas.They have live GPS and Radar Tracking System in their Mobile Vehicles. In the future, they will use Merrillville as a test site to connect to other ambulances and hospitals in the area and across the country which hopefully will be fully operational in the next 3 to 5 years.
